Basketball Training

Basketball is one of the most physically demanding sports.  Being able to take the bumps and bruises from game to game is going to make the difference.  In order to stay in the game and perform at a high level strength and conditioning play a crucial role in a basketball player's performance.

At NX Level we work to develop sport-specific power to help each individual athlete reach his or her performance goals.  Power development is accomplished through speed and strength training.

Speed Training

Specifically a basketball player has to be able to decelerate properly from a jump to an athletic stance in order to repeat that jump, explode out laterally or clear their hips and drop step into a defensive deny shuffle. Deceleration is extremely important in female athletes for knee stability and ACL injury prevention.

Acceleration is that first step from a triple-threat position. First step quickness can be the difference in explosive drives to the basket, or cutting your opponent off on every attempt to drive the lane.

Strength Training

Point of contact is important for both post and perimeter players. You have to be physically strong enough to fight through picks and screens, create space in the paint and be able to finish a shot and drive after contact.

At NX Level we use all full body lifts such as Olympic lifting, front and back squats, all angles of pressing with bars and dumbbells. These lifts improve total body development, flexibility and conditioning for the sport of basketball.
