Gymnastics

Gymnastics Training

Gymnasts need to have extreme body control and awareness to be able to perform at the highest level possible.  Core strength is crucial to the success of every gymnast.  We place a special emphasis on core strength through a variety of different programs and platforms.

At NX Level we work to develop sport-specific power to help each individual athlete reach his or her performance goals.  Power development is accomplished through speed and strength training.

Speed Training

Specifically, a gymnast must be able to land properly from a dismount, jump, or flip.

Acceleration is also important whether it is toward the pommel horse or across the tumbling floor.

At NX Level we work to increase acceleration through:
• Sprint work up to 30 yards
• Plyometrics forcing full stride length
• Core and glute strengthening to improve stride force

Strength Training

Every gymnast must be strong in all planes of motion. Pulling horizontally and vertically, pressing horizontally and vertically, and being explosive through the lower body.

At NX Level we use all full body lifts such as Olympic lift variations, front and back squats, rowing variations, a multitude of bodyweight exercises, core stability and strengthening exercises, mobility and flexibility exercises to enhance the strength and conditioning of each gymnast.
